Sharp is touting the 70″ AQUOS LC-70UD1U as one of it’s finest TV’s ever. The AQUOS LC-70UD1U, which will be released in August 2013, is THX certified. As such it was required to pass 400 painstaking performance tests in order to achieve this certification. The LC-70UD1U will ship with pre-calibrated THX movie viewing modes.

Sharp has been a leader in “smart technology” and this new TV doesn’t disappoint. The AQUOS LC-70UD1U includes Sharp’s WiFi SmartCentral platform. This allows you to stream media from online content providers such as Hulu, Netflix, Pandora and Rhapsody to name a few. The LC-70UD1U also supports apps such as facebook and Skype and also includes a flash enabled web browser.

The Sharp AQUOS LC-70UD1U is capable of displaying content at 4K resolution (roughly 4 times the resolution of 1080p). Although there’s very limited 4K options available currently, this tv set is fully capable of upscaling video sources up to 4K. And although the 3D hype may be cooling a little, the AQUOS LC-70UD1U does come 3D capable.

For those of you who like to have a good listening experience as well as a good viewing experience, you’ll be excited to hear that the AQUOS LC-70UD1U includes a six-speaker sound system that has separate midrange drivers and tweeters and a dual subwoofer. The suggested MSRP of the set is a little steep at $8000 however, with any new technology expect the price to drop rapidly once it becomes more mainstream.
