Samsung has finally revealed a few more tidbits regarding their upcoming 4K blu-ray player. Although it’s the first 4K blu-ray player to hit shelves, it won’t hold that distinction for long as Panasonic has also announced the release of a 4K player of their own.

Samsung UBD-K8500 Blu-Ray Player Pre-order

The Samsung UBD-K8500 will support 4K video as well as 3D blu-ray and CD’s. It’s also capable of upscaling your collection of regular DVD’s and Blu-rays to 4K-UHD although, the quality won’t be on par with native 4K content. The K8500’s connection choices will include one ethernet, one digital optical and two HDMI’s. It will also boast built-in WiFi and a front-side USB port.

Studio’s are starting to finally jump on the 4K bandwagon with many hollywood heavy-hitters such as Warner Home Video planning 4K Blu-ray releases this year. 2016 is shaping up to be the year of 4K as content finally starts to come available for the fledgling format.

The Samsung UBD-K8500 is currently up for pre-order at Best Buy  & Amazon with a suggested MSRP $399.99 and is scheduled for a March 2016 release.
