Yamaha in recent weeks has announced a slurry of new product releases such as the YAS-103 Soundbar and the Yamaha RX-V377 av receiver. They’ve also just announced the release of a new blu-ray player, the BD-S677. The BD-S677 can be had for a paltry sum of $329. This may sound expensive for a blu-ray player especially since you can get a pretty decent one anywhere from $100 – $150. However, the BD-S677 has a few tricks up it’s sleeves.

Connectivity is a key feature for most electronic devices today and the Yamaha BD-S677 is no different. The S677 is a networked device and as such offers both ethernet and WiFi connections. Which means all of you Vudu junkies out there can get your daily dose of binge watching.  The S677 also has apps for YouTube Leanback, Picasa Web Albums, and even Dropbox.

If the above’s not enough for you, the Yamaha BD-S677 is also Miracast Compatible.  Essentially this allows you to mirror any video or photos you have on your Miracast compatible phone or tablet on your HD TV.  The S677’s features nearly justify it’s hefty price tag however, those of you who don’t need all of these bells and whistles may want to opt for a lesser expensive option. The S677 is expected to hit shelves this April at MSRP of $329.
