Hulu announced today that Nippon Television Corporation will be acquiring their Japanese business and taking on Hulu’s day-to-day operations in the Japanese market. Hulu, which launched 3 years ago in Japan, is currently accessible across more than 90 million devices and now incorporates content from 50 different partners.

 

Hulu has stated that it will continue licensing its brand and providing services to the Japan business. For loyal Japanese customers, Hulu has promised the transition will be seamless. Nippon TV, which is #1 in average household viewer ratings in Japan, will also be adding popular Nippon TV titles to the extensive Hulu Library. Exact details of the deal have not been disclosed.
