If you’ve ever wanted to try something before you purchased it, then the Tech Start-up Lumoid may be the company you’re looking. The site, which features everything from  Apple watches, to drones, cameras, speakers and fitness trackers gives users the ability to try these items before buying them.

For a nominal fee, Lumoid lets you test various gadgets. In the case of wearables such as the Apple watch or fitness trackers, you can choose up to 5. Once you receive your items you have a set number of days to demo the devices. Along with the wearables category, Lumoid also has 17 bluetooth speakers available from well known manufacturers such as Bose, Beats, JBL and Harman Kardon. You pay $30 to try-out any 3 speakers for two weeks.

If that’s not enough Lumoid has a healthy stock of 42 headphone models that you can sample. Like the bluetooth speakers you can choose any 3 headphones to take for a spin for $30. Some high-end models can cost $5 – $20 extra. In the case of photo and video gadgets you can specify the time period that you want to rent the items for.

If you choose to keep an item, a portion of the rental fee goes toward the purchase price. If you decide to send everything back your original fee is kept as a “trial fee”.

Currently, Lumoid only operates in the United States. Even though the start-up is still in its infancy, about 48 percent of customers are buying one of the devices they test according to Lumoid’s Founder and CEO Aarthi Ramamurthy.

So if you’ve had your eye on a new fitness tracker or a set of fancy headphones you may want to check out Lumoid so you can try before you buy.
