The Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A1 is the smallest bluetooth speaker in B&O’s wireless speaker line. The saucer sized speaker comes in two finishes, silver and moss green. Being only 2 inches tall and 5.2 inches in diameter it’s small enough to easily slide inside a bag. The aluminum body of the Play A1 makes it both water and dust resistant which highlights its mobile friendliness.

Wrapping around the sides of the BeoPlay A1 are 3.5 mm and USB type-C inputs along with push button controls. Reportedly, the 2,200 mAh battery housed inside the A1 can hold enough juice to power the speaker for 24 hours on a single charge.

Behind the diminutive speaker’s grill lies a 3.5 inch driver and .75 inch silk dome tweeter. The 3.5 inch driver handles mid-range and low frequencies. Reportedly, the A1 is capable of reaching bass notes as low as 40 Hz. A built-in microphone can be used to take phone calls if necessary. According to Bang & Olufsen the round shape of the A1 helps it to create 360 degree sound. Thus far the A1 has received very positive reviews from around the web. What HiFi gave the speaker 4 out of 5 stars and it garnered an 8 out of 10 review from Wired.

The BeoPlay A1 is expected to be available in May. You can purchase the A1 directly from Bang & Olufsen or from various online retailers. The asking price for the speaker is set at $249.
