Sound bases have been gaining in popularity the past couple of years. Yamaha’s new SRT-1000 sound base ups the ante by incorporating 10 speaker drivers in it’s slender box.

The Yamaha SRT-1000 uses Digital Sound Projector Technology to beam sound around your room. The sound beams reflect off the walls creating a virtual surround sound experience. Housed inside the MDF cabinet are eight 1-1/8” beam drivers and two oval 1-1/2” × 4”  mid-range woofers. To compliment the 10 drivers the SRT-1000 has two 3 1/4″ subwoofers each with their own bass reflex ports to help create smooth airflow. The sturdy MDF cabinet means you can set your TV directly on top of the SRT-1000. It’s designed to accommodate TV’s with a screen size of up to 55 inches and which weigh up to 88 lbs.

The addition of bluetooth means you can stream music wirelessly from your iPod, Smartphone or Tablet. The MSRP of the Yamaha SRT 1000 is $499 which is a little steep in this product category, however if it sounds good it may be worth the price. The SRT-1000 is expected to be released some time in September or October of this year.
