Yamaha’s been busy the past couple weeks. After recently announcing the launch of a new batch of receivers in their RX line, Yamaha’s just announced a DTS:X update for a handful of their Aventage receivers. The amps eligible for the update are the RX-A3050, RX-A2050, RX-A1050 as well as the CX-A5100 A/V preamp processor.

DTS:X is similar to Dolby Atmos in that it uses additional height or overhead channels to create a “3-dimensional like” audio experience. DTS:X can support up to 32 different speaker locations which makes it extremely flexible for home theater rooms of varying sizes.

“Yamaha is determined to provide the most immersive sound technologies available today and the DTS:X firmware update demonstrates our passion for sharing the latest in performance with our customers,” said  Bob Goedken, general manager, A/V division, Yamaha Corporation of America.

More info regarding the DTS:X update can be found on Yamaha’s web site.
