If you take your vinyl collection seriously then listen up. Technics has unleashed a primo turntable that’s not for the faint of heart. The Technics SL-1200G is built from the ground up with quality components and a price to match. It’s expected that when the vinyl spinner lands state side it will have a price tag close to $4,000.

So, what can you expect for a four grand turntable? Lets start with the basics. If you own a turntable (and if you’re reading this I assume you do) then you know that vibrations are the nemesis of every turntable….. everywhere. To help alleviate this, the Technics SL-1200G employs an advanced microprocessor. The platter itself is made of die-cast aluminum and heavy brass with a rubber bottom which serves to provide smooth vibration free movement.

The platter sets on top of a three layer base which is made of rubber, bulk moulding compound and aluminum. The motor also receives a design upgrade. The new coreless motor doesn’t have the standard iron core found in many turntable motors. This unique design should minimize minute speed vibrations and rotation irregularities.

While the Technics SL-1200G should be available soon, you won’t find it at your nearest Best Buy yet. Upon launch the turntable will only be available from a select few retailers. More information can be found on Technic’s website.
