Playstation 4

Sony has officially announced the Playstation 4. According to Sony the PS4 will have an 8 core AMD Jaguar processor which will combine the CPU and GPU on one chip. The PS4 will also sport 8GB of GDDR5 Ram. Combine these elements together and the PS4 will have nearly 2 teraflops of processing power. Below are the specs as we know them thus far:

  • Ports: 4x USB 3.0, 2x Ethernet
  • Audio Outputs: HDMI & Optical, 2.0, 5.1 and 7.1 channel audio outputs,
  • Drive: Blu-ray drive. Sorry, HD-DVD fans, but it’s over.
  • GPU: It features 4x dual core AMD64 Bulldozer GPUs, giving it a total of 8x cores.
  • CPU: AMD R10xx
  • HDD: 160GB
  • RAM: 8GB GDDR5 unified system memory

Confirmed  PS 4 Titles:

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Destiny
  • Diablo III
  • inFamous: Second Son
  • The Witness
  • Watch Dogs
  • Driveclub
  • Killzone Shadowfall
  • Battlefield 4
  • A New Final Fantasy (probably Final Fantasy versus 13 rebranded as Final Fantasy 15)
  • Knack
  • Deep Down
  • Rocketbirds 2: Evolution

Rumored PS4 Titles:

  • Uncharted 4
  • The Last Guardian
  • Final Fantasy XIV
  • PlanetSide 2
  • Quantic Dream’s New IP
  •  Gran Turismo 6

Sony has yet to reveal the form factor of the PS4 so we can only speculate about what the final hardware will look like. They’ve also been rather tight lipped regarding the price. Rumor has it that it will retail between $350 – $499. The PS3, when it was launched, was hampered with an unusually large price tag which slowed early sales of the console. Hopefully, Sony’s learned from past errors and won’t make the same mistake twice.
