2017 is right around the corner and Marantz isn’t wasting time unveiling their new product line-up for next year. To start the new year, Marantz is unveiling two new items which target audio purists, the SA-10 CD / SACD player and the PM-10 Integrated Amplifier.

Marantz PM-10 Integrated Amplifier

Marantz Integrated Amplifier PM-10 Preview

According to Marantz, the PM-10 is “The Best Amplifier Marantz Has Ever Produced”. If you want power, then you need to look no further than the PM-10. Marantz claims that the amp can push out about 400 watts per channel at 4 ohms or 200 watts per channel at 8 ohms using a dual mono amplification process. If you’re adverse to digital processing, then the PM-10 may be up your alley since it uses an all analog design.

The PM-10 uses Marantz’s renowned Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Modules (or HDAMs) built from discrete components, rather than using the ‘chip-amps’ found in rival designs.

The internals of the Marantz PM-10 are discretely segregated to eliminate interference that can disrupt the audio path. The PM-10 has separate power supplies for the preamplifier and power amplifier channels. The amp also has a dedicated supply for the microprocessor which controls the volume, input selection and other components.

Marantz SA-10

Marantz SA-10 Preview

The Marantz SA-10 marks another step forward for Marantz. The SA-10 is being marketed by Marantz as being the first CD player / DAC without a DAC. This may sound confusing, but according to Marantz, they’ve found an elegant simple solution to an age old problem. Utilizing what they’re calling Marantz Musical Mastering, Marantz up-converts all audio signals to DSD256 (which is four times the SACD standard). Using MMM, the DSD256 signal is readied for analog output delivering an extremely pure audio signal eliminating the need for additional processing.

The CD/DVD drive in the SA-10 is not your typical “off-the-shelf” component. Marantz designed the drive from the ground up using the latest disc mechanisms available. The SA-10 is capable of playing audio from CDs and SACDs, as well as high-resolution audio stored on either CD or DVD recordable media. A USB input on the SA-10 lets users plug a computer directly into the audio player and playback hi-resolution audio files without the need of an external DAC.

Both the SA-10 and the PM-10 are available now at various retailers.
