To enjoy Dolby Atmos on this year’s crop of receivers you need speakers that are able to handle the new format. Klipsch has unveiled two solutions, the RP-140SA Elevation Speaker and the RP-280FA floorstanding speaker.

Klipsch RP-140SA Dolby Atmos Elevation Speaker

The Klipsch RP-140SA speaker module works by sitting on-top of your existing speakers and reflecting sound off of the ceiling and down into your listening area. The speakers can also do double duty. Not only can they be used as Atmos speakers, but they can also be mounted to your wall and used as surrounds.

The RP-140SA elevation speakers use the same tech that you’ll find in Klipsch’s reference line of speakers. They use Tractrix® Horns with a circular horn throat combined with a square horn mouth. The goal of this design is to improve frequency response and sound dispersion. The LTS titanium tweeters get their design inspiration from Klipsch’s flagship Palladium speaker series.

Of course the 140SA’s use the same copper spun cerametallic woofers that have become a trademark of Klipsch speakers. If you’re already a Klipsch owner, then the 140SA’s should blend in nicely with your current setup. The one caveat is that these Dolby Atmos speakers are only available in black. It’s unclear if Klipsch plans on releasing more color options in the near future.
