Denon is slowly starting to unveil it’s AV line-up for 2015. The latest entries in their catalog are the Denon AVR-X1200w and the AVR-X2200w. Both receivers are expected to hit store shelves in July.

Denon AVR-X1200w

Based on its spec sheet, the 7.2 Channel Denon AVR-X1200W is the total package. With a rating of about 80 watts per channel it should be able to push a decent set of speakers easily.

As with most receivers in this price range, the 1200W includes built-in Bluetooth and WiFi. It also can handle a variety of high-resolution audio files such as FLAC, AIFF  and DSD. Connectivity wise, the AVR-X1200W has a good amount of HDMI 2.0a inputs with six. Interestingly, all six inputs on the 1200 are HDCP 2.2 compliant which is a little surprising since some manufacturers only have one or two inputs which support HDCP 2.2.

As expected, the 1200w decodes the standard HD movie formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Dolby’s new Atmos format is also fully supported by the 1200. Out-of-the-box, the 1200w isn’t capable of handling DTS:X, but Denon’s stated that a free firmware update available later this year will give the 1200 DTS:X support.
