You know the old saying go big or go home. Well, the Denon AVR-X4200W goes big, very big. This monstrosity boasts 9.2 channels of amplification seven of which are rated at 125 watts per channel.

The Denon X4200W features 8 HDMI inputs and 3 outputs. All of which are HDCP 2.2 compliant and support 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, HDR and BT.2020 pass-through. Glance at the back of the receiver and you’ll notice that there’s no shortage of connectivity options with tons of analog and digital connections available. For vinyl lovers, the X4200W also includes a phono input. Like nearly every top-tier receiver today, WiFi and Bluetooth are built-in to the 4200W. In addition, it has a variety of internet streaming radio stations and supports services such as Pandora®, SiriusXM™ and Spotify Connect®. If compressed audio files such as MP3’s hurts your ears, then you’ll be glad to hear that the Denon AVR-X4200W can playback a variety of high-resolution audio files like FLAC, AIFF and DSD.

The X4200W is equipped to handle all of the latest audio formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS: Neural X (with an update later this year). The Auro-3D sound engine can also be added as a paid upgrade.

 

The real stand-out feature of the Denon 4200W is it’s multi-room and amp assignment options. Considering it can process nine channels, has eleven speaker hook-ups and has 13.2 channel pre-out connections it gives you tons of flexibility. For instance, you could run a Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 configuration with the assistance of a 2 channel power amp.

 

For calibration, the 4200W uses Audyssey MultEQ XT32 including Pro-calibration. For custom installation situations, the receiver includes IR (infrared) remote control input and remote control output on the rear panel, along with dual 12V trigger output. The RS-232C serial port is designed to help the unit integrate seamlessly with automation systems. The Denon AVR-X4200W also includes Control4 SDDP (Simple Device Detection Protocol) and Crestron Connected certification which means it should easily communicate with Creston and Control4 integration gadgets.
