Electrostatic headphones have largely remained unattainable for the average consumer because of their substantial price tag. Sharkk hopes to change that with the release of their Bravo Hybrid Electrostatic over-ear headphones.

Sharkk is currently running an Indiegogo campaign for the Bravo to help fund the initial production run. Unlike most electrostatic headphones, the Bravo does not require an external power source. Instead, they’re able to run on .1 volts of internally generated power.

The phones feature a 1.5 inch bass driver coupled with an ultra-thin film panel. The entire headset weighs a mere .65lbs and comes wrapped in leather with acoustically sealed ear cups.

The Indiegogo campaign set a target of $50,000 to fund the initial run and as of the writing of this article has already raised $40,000. The MSRP of the Bravo is expected to be $250, but early backers on Indiegogo can snatch up a pair for $199. The Bravo should start shipping October 2016.
